Fátima is one of the most sacred places for Catholics in the world. On this Tour you will witness all the spiritual greatness contained in the Sanctuary, built in the place where our lady of Fátima appeared to the shepherd children in 1917.
We will also visit the opulent Batalha monastery declared by the United Nations as a world heritage monument thanks to its original lines, beauty and preservation.
At 08:00 in the morning we will depart from your Hotel for a 1h3om ride and arrive at Fátima around 09:30. Our first stop will be at the Sanctuary complex where we can visit the church of Our lady of Rosário, the apparitions chapel as well as the holy trinity church.
We will also visit the modern Holy trinity Church with its innovative and simple design that truly inspire all travelers and pilgrims.
By 11:45 am we head to the Batalha monastery, an impressive structure whose construction was ordered by King D. João I in 1386. The monastery was constructed to pay the king`s promise to Our lady of Victory for the Portuguese army success in the Aljubarota battle in 1385 that guaranteed Portugal`s Independence from Spain .
The visit lasts around 1 hour.
After visiting the monastery we drive to Nazaré, a fishermen`s village famous for its fresh fish , gigantic winter waves and its warm and friendly natives.
We go to sítio da nazaré where is located the Sanctuary of Our lady of Nazaré and enjoy a spectacular view over the Atlantic.
A well deserved 1h30m lunch break arrives where everyone can choose one of the many fine restaurant options in the area that serve fresh delicious fish year round.
Heading south by 3:30pm we arrive at Óbidos , a small medieval village that seems to be taken out of a fairy tale.
Walking around the small well-preserved streets within the village walls we can see its fine pottery as well as the original architectural style of its small houses.
Still in Óbidos we can`t miss the famous Ginja de óbidos, a cherry like sweet liquor, that has been made since the 17th century following the original receipt of monks that lived in the area.
Around 4:30pm we leave Óbidos and arrive in Lisbon by 5:30pm where you will be taken to your Hotel.
